Temperatures fall Tuesday night as cloud cover clears

Skies have been partly to mostly cloudy from time-to-time Tuesday afternoon as showers move through the Midwest. High pressure holding strong across the northern Great Lakes will work to keep our skies dry through the evening. The disturbance bringing the showers through Minnesota and Iowa will dive southeast, with skies gradually clearing through the night.

This will allow us to get another good view of the full moon rising this evening. It'll also help bring temperatures down into the upper 40s and low 50s, with Rockford falling right around 50 degrees. Outlying areas could very well dip into the 40s with some fog developing in low-lying areas.

The last time Rockford had an overnight low in the 40s during the month of August was back on August 25th, 2017. So far, our coolest low temperature for the month of August this year has been 50 degrees back on the 11th.
