Heat and plenty of humidity have stuck around the past few days and this pattern will continue this weekend and into early next week. Throughout this time, we haven't had a ton of precipitation as well which will continue towards the end of next week. However, first looking at the weekend it will be full of heat and sun.
Through today the sun will continue to shine with temperatures once again approaching the upper 80's and may even reach 90 degrees today with enough sunshine. But in terms of precipitation chances are very slim, and as the night approaches a lake breeze is expected to develop. If this reaches Rockford this will help temperatures cool as the night approaches.
Into tomorrow the same story exists, some partly cloudy skies will move through the area, but the temperatures once again are in to the upper 80's with higher humidity values. As with any higher heat situations, although the weather may look safe outside still make sure to be drinking plenty of water and taking breaks in the shade during outdoor activities.
However, after Monday a cold front comes through and wipes out the upper 80's we will have to start the week. With this cold front it will not only drop temperatures, but it will increase precipitation chances as it allows air to lift. These chances will be highest through the night and into Tuesday morning but after that front passes, we move into a cooler and drier pattern.
