Same story, different day. In fact, its been the same story for the past 4 days thanks to a stagnant high pressure system over the Great Lakes.
Today will also be dry, though changes will slowly filter in as our the day progresses. A storm system lifting out of the southern plains will allow cloud cover to increase throughout the afternoon. Highs will once again peak in the low 80s.
Rain chances begin to appear this evening in the form of a few hit or miss showers and storms. Better rain chances are to follow as forecast models show a complex of thunderstorms sliding in after the midnight hour. These storms will be in a weakening state, only posing a very low risk for severe weather as well as the threat for heavy downpours.
A break will occur after the morning round departs which will carry on into the afternoon. This may feature some sun which not only will result in warmer highs but also more fuel for the potential second round. That, along with the longevity of the morning round are the two uncertainties when it comes to tomorrow's severe weather threat. In their morning update, the Storm Prediction Center keeps the entire area under a level 2 of 5 Slight Risk. All severe hazards will be on the table if the morning round does clear out in time and we manage to get in on some afternoon sunshine. As we say with each and every severe threat, make sure to have multiple ways to get watches and warnings. Storms look to move out before midnight, allowing dry conditions to filter in into Friday morning. With a slow-moving low pressure system spinning over northern Wisconsin, scattered shower chances will remain for Friday, with highs peaking in the upper 70s.
