With the weekend upon us and continued cooler temperatures, we can see how this trend will continue through the weekend. Temperatures today will stay in the low 70's with gustier winds, but the main cause of this pattern is due to a low-pressure system moving to our Northeast.Through Saturday morning cooler temperatures stick around due to the current surface flow that is in place known as Northwest Flow where winds from the Northwest move through brining cooler temperatures and less moisture. With Northwest surface flow this can sometimes be connected to cold air advection patterns where cooler temperatures and decreased moisture moves into a region. This is often due to low pressure systems, right now an upper-level low pressure system is moving off to the northeast of the Midwest and being on the "backside" of this low causes temperatures to decrease mainly due to those previously mentioned northerly surface wind gusts. With this weather pattern don't expect temperatures to rise too much through the weekend as a seasonably cooler 70-degree pattern will continue. This will allow temperatures to stay in the 50's even through the nights so jacket and pants may be needed for those making their way out in the early mornings. But looking beyond the weekend, temperatures do begin to rise once again as high pressure builds just to our west helping temperatures increase into the 80's once again. With this high pressure increased moisture will move back into the region as well bringing in some increased precipitation chances although those will be isolated towards the middle of next week.
