Freeze Warning issued for some in northern Illinois Wednesday night

While most remain under a Frost Advisory late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, a Freeze Warning has now been issued for Stephenson, Jo Daviess, and Carroll counties. This will begin at Midnight and last through 9am Thursday.

As of 4pm Wednesday skies are mostly cloudy but clearing has been occurring out to the west and southwest which has warmed temperatures into the low 50s. Where the clouds are still in place temperatures remain in the 40s. Through the late evening skies will continue to clear as drier air moves in from the west and northwest. This will pave the way for mostly clear skies through Thursday morning.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 30s, with some locations falling below 32 degrees. The areas that are at highest risk for that are where the freeze warnings are currently in place. Winds will also begin to lighten up a bit as skies clear, remaining from the northwest around 10 mph.

Frost Advisories remain in place elsewhere as frost can be expected. There remains a higher potential for more widespread frost and freeze Thursday night with high pressure right overhead. Temperatures in some locations could even fall into the upper 20s early Friday morning.
