As of 5AM, most locales are sitting above the half-inch mark, with Sterling coming in with the most rainfall at 1.34", followed by DeKalb at 0.96". Steady rain will remain possible through 7-8AM before rain ends from west to east by mid-morning.
Cloud cover will decrease, paving the way for a more sun-filled afternoon. However, it will have little impact on temperatures as we will struggle to reach the 60s this afternoon. Winds will have a big say in that as they will be out of the northwest, gusting up to 35, possibly 40 mph at times.
Winds will decrease this evening, though we hold on to a light breeze overnight. Temperatures, thank to a process known as radiational cooling, will cool into the upper 30s by Monday morning. If you have to step out the door early, be sure to put on a jacket or sweatshirt! Forecast models then show winds picking up ahead of our next cold front.
This time around, winds will be out of the south, still gusting up to 30-35 mph. This will allow afternoon highs to top out in the upper 60s.
Believe it or not, Monday's high of 67° is the warmest temperature of the next 7 days as we have see another cold front push through Monday evening into Monday night time frame, swapping winds back to the northwest and the west for Tuesday.
This will cool afternoon highs even further, dropping them into the low to mid 50s for Tuesday and into the second half of the week. Also with Monday evening's cold front will be a chance for a few isolated and light showers, mainly for those up in Wisconsin.
