More fall-like feel, but still above average next week

A cold front Friday will bring some spotty showers along it but will also keep the more seasonable air around through the weekend and into next week. Afternoon high temperatures will be between the upper 60s and low 70s most days through mid-next week. This is a bit above average for this time of year, more characteristic for late September.

This pattern of near to just above average temperatures does not come with many chances for rain. The best chance in the near term is with Friday's cold front. The jet stream, several miles up in the atmosphere, will turn a bit more active next week. But we will not see an influence from broad, strong systems.

This will keep abundant moisture positioned South of the region, preventing anything more than light and scattered rain chances. Sunday night into Monday will bring another cold front and a better chance than Friday, but none of our upcoming rain chances will do much to help with the developing drought conditions in the Stateline.
