The weekend will feature a slow but steady climb in afternoon high temperatures along with warmer overnight lows. Rainfall will remain limited, but a few slim chances will be possible over the next several days.
Starting with short term, an increase in cloud cover Friday night will prevent temperatures from dropping quite as far as they were the night before. Overnight lows will likely push the low and mid-30s amid a slow increase in cloud cover tonight.
By Saturday morning, we may be able to see a few spotty showers trying to develop on radar to the West, but much of this will have a hard time reaching the ground with drier air in the low levels preventing much of the rain from reaching the surface.

Aside from the isolated sprinkles Saturday, the weekend looks to be a dry one with a subtle climb in temperatures. Saturday will reach the mid to upper-50s again while Sunday pushes highs near 60 amid more sunshine. Overnight lows will only fall to the low 40s with additional cloud cover preventing further drop at night.

Next week will feature a messy pattern aloft, with a pair of troughs developing in the Eastern half of the country. These troughs look to "phase" with one another, or merge into one, by the end of the week. This type of upper-level pattern is hard to predict exactly where the troughs merge together, but many models push those troughs well South of Rockford.

The Southern direction of this phasing combined with a blocking high pressure to the Northeast would likely keep much of the abundant moisture South and West of Rockford. This would limit the overall rain potential around here. A few models have some of the steady showers between Monday night and Tuesday pushing just West of us, but rainfall here could be limited under a quarter inch if not less.

Temperatures through next week will see little day-to-day change, hovering in the mid to upper-50s most afternoons. Overnight lows will not be quite as cold, with most lows in the low 40s through early next week. Slim chances for rain are highest Monday night into Wednesday; but as mentioned above, rainfall could be limited.
