It's been a very mild autumn so far. So much so that Monday's high of 67° was Rockford's 37th above-average day since September 1st. This includes the 80° day Rockford posted last Friday.
However, big-time changes are likely as winds behind Monday's cold front will be oriented more to the west-northwest in the days to come.
This will leave afternoon highs in the low 50s today, then low 50s again for Wednesday. Of the two days, winds will be bit stronger this afternoon as peak winds will end up very similar to Monday, landing in the 30 to 40 mph range.
Clouds will also increase as the morning progresses a weak upper-level low moves into the western Great Lakes. Moisture levels will end up being just enough for the possibility for a few sprinkles and light showers, especially this afternoon. Shower chances linger into this evening before conditions dry out but stay mostly cloudy overnight.
Rain chances from there drop as high pressure takes hold of the plains and Midwest. High temperatures will slowly climb as we approach the weekend, landing in the upper 50s Thursday then pretty close to the 60-degree mark on Friday.
