Gradual warm up with scattered showers returning next week

We have a few very cool days and nights this week, but a subtle warm up is on the way next week along with the increase in slim rain chances. It all starts in the upper levels of the atmosphere at the jet stream level. A strong push of winds a few miles up will help to develop a surface low pressure system between Monday and Wednesday. The exact placement of this low is still in question, but the track of the low could bring the next potential for showers across a broader region.

Ahead of that low, scattered showers will be possible Saturday and Sunday with moisture feeding off a weaker system to the South. This will also come with an increase in clouds and therefore some warmer nights. Afternoon highs will push back to the low 60s early next week, while overnight lows will largely fall to the mid-40s.

The long term outlook that will carry us through the end of October tends only slightly favor above average temperatures (33-40% chance) from the Climate Prediction Center. Average for the last week of October would indicate highs in the mid/upper 50s and lows in the upper 30s. An early look at Halloween looks near average, with no huge pushes of cold or warm air near that time window.
