Frost Advisory issued across northern Illinois for Thursday morning

The Stateline has been subjected to a wild stretch of weather the past few days. The main headlines, a nice and soaking rain along with strong winds, first out of the southwest, then out of the west. Tuesday's westerly wind tugged a much cooler batch of air from Canada, leaving high temperatures in the low 50s across northern Illinois. Unfortunately, that is not the coldest we'll feel in the coming days. In fact, overnight lows will get cool enough to where we are bringing back a 5-letter "F" word.

Though not as strong, winds will once again severely limit today's warm up to the low 50s. Not only will that be a factor, so will the lingering cloud cover as clouds stay put for the daylight hours.

Forecast models then show the low pressure system responsible for today's extensive cloudiness pushing further away. This should allow gradual clearing to take place during the evening hours, setting the stage for the coolest night of the season so far.

Ahead of tonight's chill, the National Weather Service has placed the majority of Stateline under a FROST ADVISORY. This will run from 12AM to 9AM Thursday as overnight lows will end up very close or even briefly touch the 32° mark.

Temperatures are once again expected to drop into the low 30s come Friday morning. This time, we may see a few locals sitting below the 32° mark which may end up being cold enough for a hard freeze to occur. If you have any potted or sensitive vegetation, make sure to bring them inside so they are not harmed or killed by the incoming chill. Overnight lows should end up back in the upper 30s come Saturday morning, then low 40s Sunday morning.
