Heat to remain intact into the first weekend of October

Yesterday presented a somewhat small break from the more intense summer heat as temperatures made their way into the low 80s. "Small" being the keyword there as temperatures will end up closer to the 90° mark today and remain close to that mark for October's first weekend. The one big difference with today however is cloud cover as we can expect skies to be a bit more sun-filled. That, along with a light but organized wind out of the south will help push highs back into the upper 80s.

Tomorrow features more of the same, just warmer with temperatures falling short of the 90° mark by a degree or two. Forecast models also show an extremely small chance for sprinkle. However, any activity that does manage to develop will either be short lived or fall as virga. This is precipitation that evaporates before reaching the surface.

Temperatures remain near 90° this weekend. Now, the one thing to keep in mind with this weekend's heat is the low but elevated risk for fires. The combination of the summer-like heat, the extremely dry ground, and warm and gusty southwesterly wind will help quickly spread any fire that ignites. Relief doesn't arrive until late Sunday into Monday where forecast models introduce our next cold front. Post-frontal passage, daily highs fall back into the 70s, possibly upper 60s by the middle of next week.
