Scattered rain chances return early next week

Sunday and Monday look to be dry and warmer than recent days with highs pushing the upper 50s and low 60s. Sunshine will be more prevalent both days before upper-level clouds start filtering in Monday afternoon. This will be in advance of our next weather system arriving Monday night.

A surface low pressure system will be developed by a pair of phasing upper-level troughs. The exact placement of this surface low will likely be determined by the degree of how much or little the upper-level features interact with each other nearby. Regardless, a strengthening surface low pressure will be developing nearby Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing scattered showers and breezy winds along with it.

More interaction, or phasing, between the two upper-level waves would lead to the surface low developing closer to the Stateline, giving us a better chance for scattered to steady showers. Less phasing would likely result in the surface low developing South and West, keeping rainfall potential lower around here.

For now, either scenario mentioned above appears equally likely. Rainfall chances and coverage will start to tick up Monday night, with a better chance Tuesday into Wednesday. Exact coverage each day and rainfall totals will depend on which scenario ends up winning out, so stay tuned!
