Limited rainfall potential over the next week

Friday morning brought a few spotty showers but again did not amount to much across the Stateline including only 0.02" of rain at the Rockford airport. We will see a similar pattern through much of next week with a few chances for light rain showers, but not much of a soaking rainfall any day in the near term.

We are dry through the weekend with high temperatures on either side of the 70-degree mark. Starting Sunday night, spotty rain chances will be possible nearly every day. But the coverage of these showers will be very limited. Most days will feature only isolated showers at best, only around 20% coverage. The best windows for any rain next week will be early Monday and then Tuesday night.

The first main window Monday will arrive with yet another cold front and surface high pressure to follow it. This will work to limit coverage and intensity of any showers we see, preventing any soaking rainfall.

The next best chance for light and scattered showers will arrive Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Again, this does not bring a soaking and widespread rain potential with it, so there are several locations that could plausibly end up dry.

When you add up all the small chances for rain here and there, it does not amount to much. In total, most locations in the Stateline may not even be able to see a half inch of rain through the middle of next week. This will not be enough to break into rainfall deficits and drought conditions that persist across the Stateline.
