Light rain showers ahead of mid-week cool down

The arrival of clouds and moisture Monday morning will result in some areas of fog to start the day, but precipitation will not fall from the sky for the early part of the day. Light and scattered showers will begin Monday afternoon and likely will persist on and off through Tuesday morning.

Any steady rain looks to remain mostly South of I-88, but a few steady showers may try and graze parts of Lee and DeKalb Counties early Tuesday morning. With clouds remaining locked in place, temperatures will remain in the 40s all night. There is a chance we see more of the fog and drizzle like we did a few nights ago too.

There will be many dry hours Tuesday, but a cold front approaching in the evening will bring another short round of spotty showers. All told between Monday and Tuesday, most may not even see much more than a tenth of an inch of rain. Ahead of Tuesday's cold front, temperatures will rise back to the 50s again.

But Wednesday will feature much colder air behind the front, as afternoon highs will remain in the 30s throughout the day. With the low pressure system sitting just to the Northeast, strong Northwest winds gusting near 40 mph at times will make it feel much colder. A few snow flurries may be possible before 2PM, but the rest of the day will be dry.

Thanksgiving Day will not be any warmer, as afternoon highs will again only reach the 30s and in some spots may struggle to even reach above freezing. Northwest winds will not be quite as strong, but wind chills will remain in the teens and 20s throughout the day.

A more active pattern looks to settle in starting next weekend. There is an increasing chance we will see some snow in the general area Saturday and/or Sunday, but it remains far too early to pick out exact timing or placement of the heaviest snow. Rain is also likely to mix in at times, further complicating forecasts. Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to this more active stretch!
