Rain chances, cooler temperatures headline the new work week

A cold front sweeping through Saturday made it go from "shorts weather" to "sweater and sweatshirt" weather rather quickly. In fact, today and moving forward, afternoon highs will end up back near mid-November standards and much much cooler than what was felt this past Saturday.

Tagging along with the cooler temperatures will be a slightly more active weather pattern. Now, the work week begins with some sun, though the expectation is for cloud cover to increase as the day progresses. The reason being, a weak area of low pressure drifting across the midsection of the lower 48. Not too far behind will be the scattered chance for rain showers, possibly with a few flakes mixing in as temperatures drop into the mid 30s overnight.

Come Tuesday morning, the "richer" moisture will be positioned to our east. This will allow rain chances to noticeably drop by mid-morning, though a lingering shower cannot be ruled out into mid-day. With the position of the surface low being to our south, winds Tuesday will be coming out of the northeast. This, along with lingering cloud cover will severely limit high temperatures to the low 40s.

Rain chances will remain low for the middle of the work week as a weak area of high pressure settles into the Great Lakes. Afternoon highs will end up closer to average, in the upper 40s.

Thursday into Friday, an additional chance for rain will arise as forecast models show another weak low developing. This time around the southwest U.S/southern plains vicinity. Now, winds by that time will be mainly out of the southwest which will help pull  abundant moisture in from the South. But the one uncertainty is the northward extent of that plume of "richer" moisture. That will determine how much rain we could end up seeing before we close out the week.
