Weekend cold front brings spotty showers, huge temperature swings

Our next cold front will slide toward the Stateline early Saturday. This front will be attached to the surface low pressure system positioned well to our North in Canada. Highest forcing will be centered closest to the low, positioning the Stateline under far less shower coverage. Only a few spotty showers may be possible through mid-day, with things drying out late. Afternoon high temperature will still reach the mid-60s, nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of year!

Immediately behind that front will arrive a much cooler and drier air mass from the Northwest. This will keep things dry for Sunday and early Monday but will also result in a large drop in temperatures. Afternoon highs will fall to the low 50s and upper 40s starting Sunday!

The next chance for showers will arrive in the form of a weaker "cutoff" weather system between Monday and Tuesday. This far out, the rain chance is still in question as the dry air ahead of it could push the system to our South, keeping us dry. We will keep with the near average trend into the middle of next week, with highs in the upper 40s and overnight lows in the low 30s.
