While intense lake effect snow develops to the East of the Stateline, lingering flurries is all we have on the docket around here. Little to no additional accumulation can be expected locally, but the lighter, more powdery snow may blow and drift a bit across open and rural areas. Far Eastern McHenry and Kane Counties may get a brief lake effect snow shower before midnight, but much of the accumulation will remain toward Lake and Cook Counties.

Aside from the flurries tonight, it will be downright bitter cold for this time of year! Overnight low temperatures will drop into the low 20s amid a bit of clearing late, pushing wind chills into the low teens and even briefly single digits early Monday morning! Make sure to bundle up if you are heading out early tomorrow!

We won't see much of an improvement for the afternoon. High temperatures will reach the mid-30 with a bit more sunshine, but it will only feel as warm as the mid-20s with wind chill factored in. Northwest wind around 10-15 mph through much of the day will be the driver behind that. A few passing flurries may be possible from time to time, but most of Monday will end up dry.

A much milder trend is on the way this week. The quick blast of arctic air will be replaced by much milder pacific air by the end of the week, surging afternoon high temperatures into the 50s and eventually near 60! We will remain dry through at least Friday afternoon before next rain chances arrive mainly over the weekend.
