Cloud cover has been a plenty Thursday afternoon but that didn't stop temperatures from warming into the upper 50s. And that's after starting out in the 20s! The clouds will remain thick Thursday evening as a cold front slowly approaches from the west.
Temperatures will be slow to fall through the evening thanks to a southerly breeze and cloud cover, which will help hold temperatures in the 50s for most of the night. To go along with some of the warmth is an extremely dry air mass. This is characterized by dew points in the 20s. But overtime we'll begin to see those dew point temperatures rise, eventually leading to the scattered rain showers moving in.
Radar may begin to show light rain showing up after 8pm but it'll likely still be too dry for any of that precipitation to reach the ground. It won't be until 11pm or Midnight when the rain moves in, potentially with a few rumbles of thunder. There isn't much instability in the atmosphere, but what is there will be combined with some rather strong winds aloft. This could help generate an isolated storm or two, especially between Midnight and 2am Friday.
The rain for Thursday night won't last long and will only stick around for a few hours window, with that window ranging between 11pm Thursday and 3am Friday. Rainfall totals are expected to range between a tenth and quarter of an inch. A drier air mass will then settle in behind the front Friday morning, leaving us with partly cloudy skies to start the day. Temperatures will start out in the 40s which will help afternoon highs rise back into the 60s.
