Turning cold and windy after the weekend

Our weekend weather system will bring the initial mix of rain and snow Saturday evening, but other impacts will be the short-term chill to follow. A large bubble of arctic air will be drawn in behind the weather system, with temperatures just under a mile above the surface down around 15°F. Translated to the surface, that suggests afternoon highs in the 30s and low 40s.

Afternoon highs Sunday and Monday will struggle to make it out of the 30s, pushing wind chill values into the 20s or cooler! Breezy to downright windy conditions Sunday and Monday will make it feel colder. From Sunday morning through Monday night, wind chills will remain below freezing. Sunday night will feel the coldest, with wind chills in the teens!

But the chill is short-lived, as afternoon highs will return to the 50s by next Wednesday. The middle of November continues the warmer trend, with around a 60-70% chance to see above average temperatures from the 13th-19th, per the temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center. Average highs during that time are near the mid 40s, so expect more 50s for mid-November.
