Since November 1st, Rockford has averaged a peak wind gust of 29 mph. This does include the 36 mph gust that was observed Wednesday.
Thankfully, gusty winds won't be as much of an issue for the rest of the work week. Winds today will only , peak between 15 to 20 mph and with this being a warmer wind out of the south, afternoon highs will once again climb into the upper 50s. With am area of high pressure sitting close by, we get to enjoy today's mild temperatures with some sunshine. Conditions remain partly cloudy overnight with temperatures falling into the upper 30s.Temperatures continue to gradually warm as we await the arrival of our next cold front. Expect afternoon highs in the low 60s for Friday with much of the day being spent under a partly cloudy sky. Clouds will gather up overnight Friday into Saturday as said cold front slides in from the northwest.
Forecast models show this cold front passing through sometime during the midday hours Saturday. With it will be a chance for a few showers. The cooler air behind it will result in a temperature drop, though not to the extent of the drop we saw last weekend. Highs ended up well-below early-November standards, only peaking in the low 30s Sunday afternoon. This time around, afternoon highs will go from the upper 60s Saturday to the low 50s on Sunday.
